Tackle it Tuesday - Get that hotspot cooled down

I love 5 minutes for moms. They are crazy over there. So my Tackle it Tuesday is a hotspot that often gets neglected. I am going through my purse. Every once in a while my purse gets lost in junk. JI am going to clean out all the paper that doesn’t need to be there. The extra pens are going away. I think I might even have a spare toy that I don’t want to play with. Oh wait, that is Little Man’s. <wink>.

How about you? What hotspot are you going to tackle today?

Bad Credit Personal Loans: Quick and Simple

Tip! Visit Bad Credit Help for more resources and help with your credit.

Bad credit personal loans will always serve the purpose of needy people looking for some instant financial solution. If you need money for any major or petty needs, personal loans will always be supportive and easily accessible. Personal loans are becoming increasingly popular nowadays. If you use your credit cards for making big purchases or for home improvement, the interest rates would be mind-boggling and nearly unaffordable.

Secured personal loans require collaterals to offer against the loan. Collaterals come in the form of property or home. Secured personal loans offer less rate of interest and hence monthly payment will be also reduced.

Tip! Here are some things that will help you to find the bad credit help that you need.

Bad credit record is an obstruction in getting low interest rates. If you are served county court judgements, or have defaults and arrears in the past, personal loan lenders can not offer you a reasonable interest rate. However, no body can take away the right of getting you a loan. Bad credit personal loans are intended to provide people of such beset economic background.

Repair Your Credit Is your credit score low? Learn how to increase your credit score by repairing your credit.

The biggest disadvantage of secured bad credit personal loans is that borrower will always have the threat of property repossession in case of defaults on payment. A borrower with a bad credit record has to prove a lot of evidences to prove his repayment potential. Nevertheless, it is not very strange, as six out of ten UK residents have bad credit record.

Unsecured personal loans do not involve any collateral issues, thus it is fast and convenient for small amount loans. Unsecured personal loans again carry higher rates of interest. But with the introduction of bad credit personal loans, you can get competitive interest rates provided if you make exact search through the website of personal loan lenders.

Bad Credit Help Web portal for people with bad credit or no credit provides information on loans, secured credit cards, cellular phones, debt consolidation and credit repair.

Perplexed

Things are so different around here. Very strange, odd, and overall I feel as though I'm living with someone that I don't know or maybe I never did. We no longer share a bedroom. I kicked him out of the bedroom after he got home last Sunday. We no longer even talk, besides small exchanges of words that equal a sentence. He glares at me as I walk by him. We buy seperate groceries and prepare our meals seperately. Its as though I'm living with a roommate, and it's weird. Last night I was so furious that I yelled at him. I pray everyday that I can remain focused and not go off on my rants of insanity.

Last weekend I think (I hope) I reached my bottom after Abf proceded to leave me alone all weekend to go and party with his A Uncle and A Father. I know that others on this board have been put through a lot more, but I don't want to. Although sometimes I doubt myself and think-- should I give him another chance? Deep down inside I know better.

I actually called about some houses today and plan to go to an open house on Saturday, hoping I can find something that doesn't require great credit and will allow my dogs.

Deep down inside I have a lot of fear and it hurts me to leave him behind. I still love him, but it's hard loving the disease. I just hope that when it comes down to it, I can move out of here and won't soften up and feel sorry for him.

I just needed to vent and put my thoughts out there...I'm so thankful for this board:)

United Can't Find A Power Outlet On A Plane For Your Life Saving Medical Device [Readers]

Reader Glenn was traveling to Thailand with a group of friends. Glenn and another member of the group have issues with Sleep Apnea, a potentially life threatening disorder where sufferers stop breathing in their sleep. Fortunately, a simple medical device called a C-Pap machine can be used during sleep to correct the problem. So Glenn, being the informed responsible consumer he is, contacted the airline the group was booked on, United, to make sure that he'd be able to use his C-Pap machine during the god-awfully long trip from Boston to Thailand. United said, sure, no problem, they'd be able to get him an outlet for his machine. Then, they canceled his booking. Without telling him. But wait! It gets worse!

Hi, A friend of mine told me I should log a complaint on this website against United Airlines. I was part of a group of 9 people traveling from Boston to Thailand on Dec 20th 2007. There were 2 of us who required an electrical outlet to supply power for C-Pap machines due to Sleep Apnea disabilities. We checked with United Airlines almost 2 months prior to the trip, to make sure they could accommodate us. They assured us it would be no problem. That's where the trouble began.

On the day I called (October 23, 2007) United "medical dept". They said they would contact me to confirm but that is should be fine. After not hearing from them....I called back on November 20th and found out my reservation had been cancelled and the flights were "full". United told me my travel agent had cancelled the reservation but that was not the case. After 2-3 hours on the phone they discovered it had been cancelled by the original reservationist I spoke to on 10/23/2007. Finally they "made room" for me on the flights and supposedly we were back on track. We received calls from United a week prior to the flight saying that our electrical outlets would be available for us.

Boston to DC flight was uneventful. We boarded the plane in DC that was going to Tokyo (14 hour flight) on 12/20 around noon I think. After I was seated I couldn't find an outlet so I called the flight attendant to show me where it was. She had no idea what I was talking about. She called a supervisor who couldn't help me either. They moved my seat up to business class I believe and still there was no plug there. I was asked if I could fly without using the machine. I said yes but I would not be able to sleep. Then United did what I thought was unimaginable. Because they had failed comply with our request they removed my bags and my friend Mike's bags from the plane and forced us off the flight. They separated us from our traveling group and would not even look into putting us on another flight the same day. The plane the next day had only one working outlet. They talked about having one of us stay behind again. We convinced them to let us fly and we would share the outlet.

They violated not only their own policy to accommodate medical issues with a 48 hour notice but also the Air Travel Access Act in not meeting our medical needs appropriately. An 8 page letter was responded to with a $125 coupon for each of us. We lost the cost of our hotel in Bangkok, our first day of the tour, and had to pay additional transportation costs to get to the hotel not covered by the tour because we arrived late. Sorry for all the info in such a small space. Please let me know if your website can help us. We feel at the very least we should be offered a roundtrip ticket within the U.S. We paid over $1,300 for each ticket originally. Thanks

Glenn

Last I checked, $125 won't get you coast to coast one way in this country. How insulting. I think it's time to write to someone higher up, like Graham Atkinson, United Airlines Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. Also, since they screwed up your trip because of their inability to make simple accommodations for your medical condition, despite ample warning and your compliance with their own policies, how 'bout writing to the Department of Transportation? Oh look, they have a section called"Complaints Alleging Discriminatory Treatment Against Disabled Travelers!" Refusing to accommodate for life saving medical equipment, that's discriminatory, right?

Manifesting Destiny: Making the Law of Attraction

Manifesting Destiny: Making the Law of Attraction Work for You by Chris Robertson

People tend to look at their lives in one of two ways: either things happen to them or they make things happen. Psychologists say that people who view themselves as passive players in the game of life have an external locus of control, whereas people who see themselves as influencing their life events have an internal locus of control.

Within the last year, 'The Secret' has created enormous popular buzz around the world. Both a book and a DVD, 'The Secret' is convincing people who have an external locus of control - those who view life events as happening 'to' them - that they can take charge of their lives and create their own destinies.

Manifesting destiny isn't a new concept, but thanks to 'The Secret,' it has enjoyed an astonishing surge of interest. More people than ever before are beginning to believe that, anytime and anywhere, they can create positive change in their lives.

What is 'The Secret'? In essence, it says that people can use the Law of Attraction to discover and realize their deepest desires, and in the process become a positive force of change in the world. The Law of Attraction can be summed up as follows: the energy you put out into the universe draws that same energy to you. Here are two concrete examples:

Financial Security - Let's say that a man named Jack has racked up enormous credit card debt. When someone asks him how he's doing, Jack's response is, 'I'm just getting by.' According to the Law of Attraction, Jack's response serves to reinforce his mindset and sets him up so that he continues to 'just get by.'

Relationships - Let's say that a woman named Lucy has had a succession of boyfriends who emotionally abuse her. She laments to anyone who listens, 'I'm a magnet for losers.' According to the Law of Attraction, by defining herself as a 'magnet for losers,' Lucy will continue to attract emotionally abusive men.

How can Jack and Lucy use Law of Attraction to change their situations? First, they must visualize what they want their lives to look like. For Jack, that means envisioning a life of prosperity, and for Lucy, it means visualizing a long-term relationship filled with mutual respect and love. They can use a variety of tools to discover their visualizations, such as writing a narrative or creating a poster board with images and words that reflect what they want to attract to their lives.

The instant Jack and Lucy understand what they want to attract to their lives, they need to change their language - both their inner dialogue and what they say to others. Instead of saying he just gets by, Jack must start telling people that he's doing wonderfully. Instead of telling people she's a 'loser magnet,' Lucy needs to say that she's in the process of finding a loving, respectful mate. Initially, it's not effortless, but over time changing your language gets much easier. It helps to have visualizations - such as a poster board or narrative - close at hand, since the Law of Attraction is based upon knowing exactly what you want to attract.

The last step in manifesting destiny is creating an action plan. The Law of Attraction isn't about wishing and hoping; it's about creating a concrete vision and taking proactive steps to achieve that vision. For Jack, that may mean consulting with a financial advisor and coming up with a debt consolidation plan. It may also mean finding a way to earn additional money so that he can retire his debt. Lucy's proactive steps might include no longer going to the places where she met the 'losers' she attracted in the past, or saying yes when a man she wouldn't normally be attracted to asks her out on a date.

The Law of Attraction is incredibly powerful. With it, a person is taking back control over his or her life, creating a life that reflects his or her deepest desires, and manifesting destiny in the process.

Just need to vent tonight

I'm rather pissed off. I need to vent a little. My addicted step-daughter 19 year old got herself booted from her second rehab. To be fair, it was a very strict place and she got herself booted for repeated minor rule infractions rather than relapse or any big blow-up. Still, she got herself booted.

We've been trying to find a third rehab, but some problems beyond our control came up and it is taking longer than we expected. She is attending a local outpatient program. She failed to show up there twice this week, once after I dropped her off a block from the place!

Here's what's pissing me off. She's moping around, acting like a victim, feeling sorry for herself and now accusing us of treating her like a 12 year old! The only rules are that she attend the out patient program and get to bed by 11:00 so that she can get up in the morning to get there. We only made that rule because of the days that she claimed she was too tired to go.

I agree that sometimes her mom is too strict on the curfew. A few nights ago she was out with a friend who is also in the out patient program. I called her to ask when she would be home. She said by midnight. I knew that her mom wouldn't like it, but I know that my step-daughter has said she just wants to do some things that a normal 19 year old does, like staying out a little late. They were going to a hookah (tobacco) bar and then to watch a friend perform in a band.

My idea was that if she got home on time and then made it to her program, I would make the case to her mom that she could be trusted to set her own curfew. Well, she got home at 1:30AM instead of midnight. I dropped her off at her program the next day, but she never signed in.

She's relapsed at least once since being home and we suspect from her behavior a few more times.

Now, she's pissed off at us as if this is OUR fault. Well grow up! We didn't stick a needle in your arm. You did. We didn't get you booted from two rehabs. You did.

We don't want to make rules for her, but she can't live in our house if she is going to use and unless she is in treatment. She was in college with an off-campus apartment and all the freedom in the world. What did she do with that freedom? Get herself hooked on heroin! She hates our rules? If she hadn't messed up in one of the worst possible ways, she wouldn't have to live with our rules.

There. It feels better to vent.

Opening Books

I opened a book & this is what I read....

"Life's circumstances are not always what you might wish them to be. The pattern of life does not necessarily go as you plan. Beyond any understanding, you may at times be led in different directions that you never imagined, dreamed or designed. Yet if you had never put forth any effort into choosing a path, or tried to carry out your dream, then perhaps you would have no direction at all.
Rather than wondering about or questioning the direction your life has taken, accept the fact that there is a path before you now. Shake off the why's and what if's & rid yourself of confusion. Whatever was- is in the past. Whatever is- is what's important. The past is a brief reflection. The future is yet to be realized. Today is here.
Walk your path one step at a time- with courage, faith, and determination. Keep your head up, and cast your dreams to the stars. Soon steps will become firm and your footing will be solid again. A path that you never imagined will become the most comfortable direction you could have ever hoped to follow.
Keep your belief in yourself & walk into your new journey. You will find it magnificent, spectacular, and beyond your wildest imaginings."-Vicki Silvers

A typical weekday of my life - spring 2008

Recently Trent at The Simple Dollar posted his schedule. I think it’s quite interesting to see what goes on behind the curtains because even when everybody mostly live in the same types of houses, drive the same kinds of cars, buy the same stuff and have jobs, we are all quite different when it comes to the details. So here’s a typical weekday schedule for me. A weekend would look quite similar except there is no job and more studying and “misc.”.

7:07 I wake up and notice that it’s past 6:45 on the clock (if it’s not I doze off again). It might be 7:13 or 7:04, but 7:07 has been fairly consistent lately. I have not woken up to an alarm clock on a daily basis for many many years. I get out of bed, shower, and get dressed. This takes 17 minutes from the moment I open my eyes, always.

7:24 I find my laptop and check if any comments need moderation, if someone left a track back link, and other blog stats. I also check whether the stock market is up or down for the day. In particular I check if any of my limit orders have triggered. I don’t eat breakfast. I never eat breakfast.

7:55 I get my bicycle out of the garage taking it out of the front door through the living room. I ride the first mile at 15mph and slowly build up to 18-19mph watching the traffic jam on the interstate as I go on a parallel side road. Going in I’m usually facing headwind. That sucks. Maybe I should get aerobars?

8:22 I arrive at work. I’m usually the first or second one in. I spend most of the day sitting on my ass and staring at computer screens. Occasionally I get a bright idea, fire up an editor, make some changes, and rerun a program. Then I wait some more. Research is mostly long periods of waiting interrupted by brief periods of frenetic activity and excitement.

9:37 I play hockey 1-2 times a week with people at work. We have a mailing list and during the morning we’ll try to figure out if we have enough people to play by shooting mails back and forth saying things like “in iff numbers>3+3 && rink dry ..” and the first “in” usually arrives at this time.

11:50 Assuming that the game is on I get a ride over to the rink. I’m the only car-less person and we’re all going to the same place, so there are always someone who can give me a ride. We usually talk about hockey. Apparently I’m the only player who only plays and never watches. I can’t tell you anything about the NHL. When it comes to sports, the only things I try to watch are the games of one particular college football team and pro-dopingcycling. If it is not a game day or it rains, I work through. I never eat lunch (either) so my blood sugar levels are nice and constant all day.

13:30 I get back from the rink. I check emails and respond to a collaborator if they need some data or a paragraph back. I always try to kick the ball out of my court ASAP. Hurry up and wait is the operating motto.

16:03 I get my bike out of my office (I park my “precious” in my office) and ride home. Tailwind means 23mph. If I’m lucky I get to overtake some recreational cyclist in a multicolored jersey. If I am unlucky some jerk in an SUV will try to right hook me or pull out in front of me because she didn’t see me. SUVs should have a “must be this tall to drive” sign printed on their front doors.

16:28 I arrive at home. If our vicious guard dog is awake he tries to get my attention until I scratch his ears. Then he runs back to DW. He’s a mommy’s boy. I moderate comments and try to respond to a few of them. I also check a couple of other pf blogs. DW heads out to the dog park with the puppy.

17:00 I start working on my freelance editing job cleaning up papers for publication. This is paid on an hourly basis so I have my stop watch going.

17:45 DW comes back. The puppy runs frantically around demonstrating much excitement but no sense of dignity or coordination whatsoever. DW starts cooking. We have started taking turns on the cooking. I do one week, DW does the next. During my weeks I usually cook everything on Sundays and then reheat.

19:00 I finish the freelancing. Dinner is ready. Since I don’t eat lunch nor breakfast I eat a lot during dinner. Usually two fully topped plates. We eat in front of the TV typically watching the Colbert report or other educational programming.

19:43 I finish eating and I grab the laptop trying to pen a few posts. Some posts take half an hour or less. Others take more than an hour. I write an average of two posts a day but only every other day. Usually writing is easier if I have something to disagree with

21:02 I grab the book for my finance studies. Currently I’m reading fixed income. This is something I should be spending more time on. I try to catch up during weekends. Sometimes I head into another room to read but mostly I read in front of the TV. This is not very productive.

22:47 I stop reading. Grab a hockey stick and practice stick handling in front of the TV with a tennis ball. I may also grab a clubbell or a kettlebell and hammer out some reps.

23:07 I start bugging DW when she’ll be done watching her current alphabet show (NCIS, CSI, … ). Usually this takes 10 minutes. She has to finish a show once she’s started. Then I say “bed bed” which is the keyword for the puppy to get out in the yard and do his thing.

23:24 I head to bed. DW follows after putting the puppy to be. This is a strictly coordinated routine.

I’m pressed for time. This is why time is more valuable than money to me. I still need to do my taxes. I need to set my blog up as a sole proprietorship so I can derive some advertising income. I also need to spend more time reading 10-Qs and 10-Ks (a hobby) and running stock screens to add to my buy list. Going with DW to the dog park would be nice but that will lose an hour. I probably spend 10 hours a week exercising (I consider the commute part of my exercise - it is reasonably fast) but I would like to get back into the power game.
